"If you ever plan to motor west,
travel my way, take the highway that is best.
Get your kicks on Route sixty-six.

It winds from Chicago to L.A.,
more than two thousand miles all the way.
Get your kicks on Route sixty-six."

Comment: This picture reminds me of traveling with Carola through Southwestern USA in 1986. Though, when I started with the scene, I had a picture in mind that is from a different region. The image map for the blue vending maching (vmpepsi.gif) is from a picture I took in 1989. The red vending machine is from a different scene (Dead End). The 56-Chevy was from the historic ftp-server and was converted to POV-Ray by Keith Rule. One does not see the background mountains, but I did not take them away since I used the height field also for the clouds in the sky. I don't provide the height field due to limited webspace. There are some time - consuming features in this picture, mainly a lot of light-sources, and so the whole scene took one and a half days to render my Pentium 350 MHz/128 Mb. It is much faster when the Chevy and part of the light sources are omitted.
