Fukuoka - Nichinan

In 1995 I spent a week together with a group of physicians from different countries in a hospital in Nichinan in southern Kyushu Island. It took about one day to get there from Kyoto with the railroad. We took a Shinkansen to Fukuoka and then changed to the "Red Express" to Miyazaki, where we changed trains once more. The "Red Express" was comfortable, but not really fast. During the last part of our journey, I remember how we were sitting in a railcar, while it was already dark outside, and I tried to compare the timetable with the names on the station signs that we passed. It took more than one hour in the railbus until we had reached our destination.
